Punahou still at top;
Mid-Pac falls to fifth

Elitism doesn't exist in the minds of players and coaches, but it sure rules among the Star-Bulletin Baseball Top 10 panelists.

Punahou remained at No. 1 with 11 of the 14 first-place votes.

Meanwhile, last week's No. 2 team, Mid-Pacific, lost to Kamehameha and Punahou and fell to the fifth spot.

That's precisely the farthest that any of the top five teams have fallen no matter what. Saint Louis, with three first-place votes, moved up to No. 2, followed by Mililani and Kamehameha.

Below Mid-Pac, Kaiser is still locked at No. 6 after winning its Oahu Interscholastic Association opener at Kaimuki.

The Cougars (9-10) have been at the No. 6 spot since the poll opened three weeks ago.

Baldwin, Leilehua, Aiea and Iolani round out the Top 10. Baldwin's games against Kamehameha-Maui were rained out over the weekend.

Iolani slipped a notch despite a 5-all tie against Punahou a week ago. The Raiders blew a 6-0 lead and lost to Kamehameha 15-8 on Saturday.
