3 scheduled shows
have been canceled

After spending the first few months of 2005 telling you about all these cool shows taking place, I knew it had to happen. This week turned into one where it was all about the cancellations.

Disappointment came early in the week for me, when I showed up Sunday night at Pipeline for the Supernatural concert. The club was dark, its doors closed, and a piece of paper taped to the door announced the show wasn't happening.

Then I heard that an appearance by the X-Ecutioners next week got called off, as did an upcoming show by DJ Miguel Migs.

The only news I got that could help you focus on the bright side? Mark Farina is still supposed to head our way in May ...

ARE YOU a shoe freak? Do you compare yourself to Imelda Marcos or "Sex and the City" character Carrie Bradshaw?

If so, tonight's free "Shoe Diva" event at Macy's Ala Moana is right up your alley. Check out the latest offerings from Cole Haan, Bruno Magli, Ellen Tracy and other designers starting at 6 p.m. A "Sexy Shoe Contest" is also planned. Call 945-6427 to RSVP, or to sign up for the contest ...

IF TOMORROW night's "ARTafterDARK" ends a little too early for your taste, keep the party going with Dee Dee DeSoto at Cafe Sistina.

The local matchmaker hosts "Dao Den" starting at 10 p.m. at the restaurant, with wine tastings to go with "exotic, tantric music and drinks." Cover is $5 for this one; the first 10 people to pay will score a free drink. Call 536-4229 ...

I'M SURE there are lots of women planning to see the Chippendales perform at the Radisson Prince Kuhio Hotel this weekend. But guys, there's a reason for you to be there, too.

Before the fun starts tomorrow and Saturday night, an official talent scout from the group will conduct a "Chippendales Manhunt." Those who try out will be considered for possible hire with one of the Chippendales' national touring groups. Call 296-9850 for details ...

THE BI-WEEKLY "SKYLiNE" party adds a special edition on Saturday. The Spring Break "Think Pink Edition" features DJ Mei Lwun, Playboy Mansion percussionist Ravi and a Pink C fashion show. Former Hawaii resident Summer Jensen will be on hand to go-go dance ... Want to do something different? Head out to the Heeia Pier, where the Vertical Junkies host a daytime party out on the sandbar in Kaneohe Bay on Saturday. Neken will perform live, with DJ Durtie Rice in the mix. It all starts at 10 a.m. ... The University of Hawaii-Manoa's fashion department will hold another benefit party this weekend. Saturday night's event at Longhi's will help raise money for their annual fashion show ...
