MORSELS

Tiny school, big event

No little school fair for Central Union Preschool and Kindergarten. The benefit event for this school is a $100-per-person food and wine gala April 1 at the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom.

"Dazzle!" will include chefs D.K. Kodama of Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Hiroshi Fukui of Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas, Russell Siu of 3660 on the Rise and Naret Sihavong of Phuket Thai. Wine selections will be by master sommelier Chuck Furuya.

Proceeds benefit early education programs, focusing on "the Three E's" -- economic diversity (scholarships), the education building fund and staff education.

Live big-band music and a silent auction will also be part of the event, which runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $100, or $1,500 and $2,500 for premium tables of 10. Call 946-4025.

Recipe testers needed

Like to cook? Like cookbooks? Collector's Press has a deal for you.

The publishing company is working on a new book, "The Good Home Cookbook," a collection of "greatest hits" American classics, and wants to put the recipes to the test.

Home cooks who sign up as recipe testers will be given dishes from the book to try out. Their comments and questions will be incorporated into the project. All testers will be credited, and those who test five or more recipes will receive a free book.

To sign on as a tester, e-mail your contact information to recipetester@collectorspress.com. You will be contacted with registration details.
