Loyal Betsey Johnson fans showed up in full force to meet the designer at her Ala Moana Center boutique last Thursday. The personable designer greeted every fan with a warm hug and obliged in picture-taking and signing autographs, including one on Sherry Chock Wong's jean-clad behind. Among those who knew her "back when," showing up to rekindle old friendships with the designer were Body & Soul's Director of Beauty & International Trainer Ejay and localite Frieda Hulse, who modeled for Johnson in the '80s, who related the tale of a fashion show at a skating rink, when 30 percent of the models had never been on rollerblades before. The spills were plentiful ...

Leona Iseki won a date with firefox Kamaki Worthington for $200.

How much were those men in the window? The Honolulu Club raised $615 at its Firefighter Date Auction, part of the club's "Ides of March" event held on March 12. Three lucky ladies won a dinner with a firefox at the benefit for the Make a Wish Foundation. Traci Maeda picked up Matt Belluomini and dinner at Kincaid's for $200; Emily Baptiste won dinner for herself and Jake Faver at Palomino for $215; and Leona Iseki's winning bid of $200 got her and Kamaki Worthington a dinner at Sam Choy's Diamond Head. ... The night before, the Ocean Club held its 3rd annual Burnin' Down the House Bachelor Auction, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. A total of $5,000 was raised ... While we're on the subject of fund-raisers, staff from Tiki's Grill & Bar manned the PBS pledge lines for two hours on March 10; 100 donors received a free Kalua Pig Quesadilla appetizer for pledging. More than $16,000 was raised for PBS Hawaii and that included a single pledge of $1,500. That generous donation got its donor a pupu party for 20 people at Tiki's Grill & Bar ...

Congratulations to Maui High School student Kelli Kaneshiro for taking first place in Canon's 2005 Amateur Photo Contest for her photo "Poi." There were more than 1,000 entries. Other winners are Jingsong Zhou, second place; Randy Muth of Kailua, third place; Rob Noland, fourth place; and Edmund K.Y. Yip of Pearl City, fifth place.
