OSCARAMA WINNER

Close races make guessing
game hard to score

This year's Oscarama was the toughest to judge because -- with no clear winner in the awards ceremonies leading up to the Academy Awards -- your guesses were all over the map!

And our winner, Marv Rohrer, not only didn't see all the films, but the clinical psychologist has been living in Bali, Indonesia, where he's heading in a few days after spending an extended holiday with his family.

We'll be sending him 10 movie tickets and $100 for popcorn, though he says it'll be summer before he'll be back to make use of his prize.

Seven people got all the answers we were looking for, leading us to the tie-breaker question one. Five guessed "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" would win the Oscar for original screenplay, but everyone blew it on the second tie breaker, guessing that "Million Dollar Baby" would win the most Oscars. "The Aviator" grabbed the most, at five, vs. four for "Million Dollar Baby."

We drew Rohrer's name at random from the five, and he says he did manage to see nominated films "The Aviator" and "Ray" while here.

"I usually watch them on DVDs because there are very few theaters (in Bali), and they don't show the best ones. They'll show the big blockbusters and moneymakers, which aren't the same thing.

"They'll show 'The Aviator,' but that's about it. Maybe they'll show 'Million Dollar Baby' because it's big enough and commercial enough, but not something like 'Finding Neverland.' "

Rohrer said picking the winners was a matter of studying up and being more methodical than emotional. "It comes down to what people will vote for."

Congratulations Marv, and thanks all for entering.
