ON STAGE

Ticket prices rise

First the bad news: Starting next month, ticket prices at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts will rise by $2, making them $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers (except where noted).

The good news is that prices are still lower than at many other theaters and some screenings are preceded by a short film by students from the Academy of Creative Media.

And more screenings will be offered, with showtimes to run 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays; 4 p.m. Fridays through Sundays; and 7:30 p.m. daily.

Here is March's movie feast:

» "In the Realms of the Unreal" (2003, not rated): Academy Award winner Jessica Yu explores the life of legendary outsider artist Henry Darger. The film will be preceded by the student film "The Tale of Haiku Jones" (2004), by director Kevin Inouye. It tells the story of master slam poet Haiku Jones getting ready for his next competition. At 1 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

» "Nobody Knows (Dare mo Shiranai)" (2004, not rated): Director Hirokazu Koreeda presents a story about four abandoned children. At 1 p.m. Wednesday to March 6 and 8; 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to March 8; and 4 p.m. Friday to March 6.

» "Days of Being Wild (A Fei Jing Juen)" (1991, not rated): Director Wong Kar-Wai creates a post-modern story set in a labyrinth of desperation and unfulfilled need.
