Jasmine Trias to sing
praises of Pizza Hut,
Taco Bell in ads

JASMINE Trias built an image as Hawaii's sweetheart when she became a runner-up on "American Idol" last year, so it seems fitting that Valentine's Day was chosen to announce her latest music deal.

The merchandising agreement for her new CD single called "Flying Home," is between TD Food Group, which owns Hawaii's Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants, and Hawaii Pacific Entertainment, the agency that represents Trias.

Trias appears in an advertising campaign that will debut Feb. 27 to promote the CD as well as the 80 Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants statewide. The outlets will sell the single for $1.99 with any purchase through April 3, or while supplies last. The talent management agency approached TD Food Group because of the company's ubiquitous presence in the state and because the brands are synonymous with family, consistent with Trias' image, said Lincoln Jacobe, chief executive of Hawaii Pacific Entertainment.

Commercial Data Systems is about to open an office in Washington, D.C., though it has had a presence of work-at-home executives for some time.

The Honolulu-founded company provides hardware and software to companies and federal agencies to address computing needs and has opened offices in Albuquerque, N.M., San Diego, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Orlando, Fla.

The company targeted federal contracts as a business hedge and its $57 million revenue for about 60 employees means CDS can support causes. Mark Wong, president and chief executive, had an organ built for use in an upcoming concert marking the 40th anniversary of the Hawaii Youth Symphony Association. The company developed an event management system for the American Heart Association's Heart Ball Feb. 26.
