‘Lost’ creator
takes long view

Discussions continue between ABC and the state about financial assistance for the top-rated series "Lost," which might have to relocate due to Hawaii's high costs. State officials are also taking a closer look at the number of production crew brought here from the mainland and whose monthly living expenses are said to be in the tens of thousands of dollars, including rent-to-stay at the Ilikai Hotel.

Show creator J.J. Abrams is developing story ideas for a second season "and beyond," no matter where the ABC series decides to film.

"You All Everybody," the single from Dominic Monaghan's character Charlie's rock band, Drive Shaft, was recently played on Abrams' other ABC drama, "Alias." There's a music video at www.abc.com and a "fan Web site," www.driveshaftband.com, complete with bios, photos, a faux discography and dedications to its missing bassist.

A preteen extra acting in a flashback scene about the character Locke (Terry O'Quinn) became dehydrated, fainted and hit his head on a chair in a warehouse set, losing consciousness. An ambulance took the boy to Wahiawa General Hospital, where tests showed a minor concussion.

The production sent a "Star Wars" DVD collection to the boy at the hospital. When he returned to the set to get his belongings, he had his photo taken with O'Quinn. ...

Former Hawaii producer Seth Feldman will segment-produce "The Apprentice with Martha Stewart," to air next fall on NBC. In Hawaii, Feldman's "Silent Majority," a 12-part joint venture with KHON2, airs March 6. Scott Culbertson will produce the series ...

PBS might air in its May national prime-time schedule the award-winning documentary "An Untold Triumph," about the U.S. Army's 1st and 2nd Filipino infantry regiments. The film was directed by Noel Izon, co-written by Izon and Hawaii filmmaker and associate producer Stephanie J. Castillo. Actor Lou Diamond Phillips narrates the film ...

And finally, yes, that was Lauren Storm in the Pepsi TV commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. Storm is part of the "29 Down" cast, the Discovery Channel/NBC kids' Saturday adventure series currently filming on Oahu ...
