OIA to start hoops
tourney on Thursday

East winner Kahuku (10-1) and West champion Campbell (9-1) were awarded the top two seeds in the Oahu Interscholastic Association boys basketball championship tournament, which starts Thursday at two sites.

Three-time defending champion Kalaheo (9-2) and Kapolei (9-1) also received first-round byes.

In first-round games at Pearl City on Thursday, Roosevelt (8-3) takes on Leilehua (6-4), while the host Chargers (7-3) meet Kailua (7-4).

At McKinley on Thursday, Radford (7-3) tangles with Castle (7-4), and Kaimuki (8-3) goes up against Mililani (5-5).

Tournament games are also scheduled for Friday and next Wednesday. The title game is slated for next Friday at 7:30 p.m. at McKinley.
