Andy Bumatai was scheduled as Cha Thompson's co-emcee for Mayor Mufi Hannemann's inauguration but traffic delayed him. Cha thought she'd have to go on alone. But publicist Mona Wood was on the scene, spotted Kimo Kahoano and took him to Cha. Cha handed him a script and, pro that he is, Kimo got with the program from the start. When Andy arrived, Kimo gave him the microphone and eased out of the picture, with no one the wiser. Longhi's Ala Moana G.M. Charlie Longhi was working as a rock guitarist, a studio musician and producer until two years ago when, "I came home to help dad out," he said. "I got tired of the L.A. lifestyle. I wanted to come home so I bought in with dad (Bob Longhi). Now I want to play some music again." Charlie is a Berklee College of Music honor grad. He has formed a band and will open with a gig at Longhi's Feb. 19 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The seven-member band includes highly regarded Ricky Peterson on Hammond B-3 organ, and horns as well, Charlie said. Tinoisamoa, Sopoaga featured in ESPN docu

Owana Salazar says she's happy to be on the soundtrack of ESPN's "Polynesian Power: Islanders in the NFL," featuring Pisa Tinoisamoa and Isaac Sopoaga, two former UH stars. The Rock narrates the documentary about the rise of Polynesians in football. It will be shown on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. Feb. 12, and at 9 a.m. Feb.13. ESPN will run the docu at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28. The UH football program gets coverage in the film. Boo-Yaa Tribe, Kupa'aina, Tribal Soul, Jamoa Jam, King Kapisi and Trinity Roots are also on the soundtrack ...

Jim Nabors was at Carol Channing's show Saturday at the Hawaii Theatre and was surprised to see himself on Carol's video tribute when she appeared on "Gomer Pyle."
