Rainbows ranked in coaches poll

The Hawaii Rainbow baseball team received 18 points in the Sports Weekly/ESPN 2005 Preseason College Baseball Coaches Poll, good for 38th place.

Texas is No. 1, followed by Cal State Fullerton, Miami, Louisiana State and Tulane.

Teams in the top 25 on the UH schedule include defending Western Athletic Conference champion Rice (14th) and Florida State (19th).

Other Rainbow opponents receiving points are Wichita State (27th), Winthrop (34th), Fresno State (44th), Louisiana-Lafayette (48th), Alabama (57th), South Florida (60th) and Nevada (63rd).

Hawaii opens its season with a four-game series against Alabama on Feb. 10.

Season tickets on sale today: Season tickets for the 2005 Hawaii Rainbow baseball season will go on sale today.

Ticket prices are $185 for the Blue and Orange sections, $145 for adults in the Red section, and $120 for senior citizens, UH students and kids ages 4-18 in the Red section. They can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, UH Campus Center, Rainbowtique and the Aloha Stadium Box Office, or online at hawaiiathletics.com, or by calling 944-2697.
