>> "Assault on Precinct 13": During a snowy New Year's Eve, a mobster is temporarily incarcerated at a soon-to-close police station. When a rogue gang attempts to free the mobster, a motley crew of policemen and prisoners must band together to fight them off in this remake of John Carpenter's 1976 action thriller. Stars Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Maria Bello, John Leguizamo and Drea de Matteo. (R)

>> "Million Dollar Baby": Already lauded by critics and audiences who've seen the movie in select major U.S. cities, Clint Eastwood's latest film goes into national release this weekend.

After a painful estrangement from his daughter, boxing trainer Frankie Dunn (Eastwood), meets Maggie (Hilary Swank) who wants to train with him. He begrudingly take her on.

In turns exasperating and inspiring each other, the two come to discover that they share a common spirit that transcends the pain and loss of their pasts, finding in each other a sense of family they lost. (PG-13)

>> "Are We There Yet?": Ice Cube stars as playboy bachelor Nick, whose love for Suzanne are threatened by her kids, who have never liked any of her suitors. When Suzanne's work keeps her in New York City for New Year's Eve, Nick offers to bring her son and daughter up from Washington, D.C., but they're determined to turn the trip into a nightmare. (PG)
