A body-boarder re-established contact with a wave after free-falling from its crest yesterday at Waimea Bay. Lifeguards at Waimea limited access only to experienced body-boarders due to the water's rough surf conditions. Fifteen- to 18-foot waves rolled on to the North Shore yesterday, closing some beaches, but that did not stop some surfers from having fun. Lifeguards and Civil Defense volunteers are bracing for high surf that is expected to reach 35 feet today.
