Palmer to play at his Turtle Bay course

Arnold Palmer has committed to play in the Turtle Bay Championship from Jan. 24 to 30.

Also playing will be Hale Irwin, Gil Morgan, Bruce Fleisher, Larry Nelson, Mark McNulty, Jim Thorpe and D.A. Weibring at Turtle Bay's Palmer Course, designed by and named for Palmer.

Kaanapali manager wins award: Ed Kageyama, general manager of Kaanapali Golf Courses, was named General Manager of the Year by Billy Casper Golf yesterday.

BCG, a golf course management company, has an annual Achievement Awards program that recognizes its employees.

Vulcans debut in top 25, Seasiders out

After losing three straight games, the Brigham Young University-Hawaii (5-4) men's basketball team fell out of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll yesterday.

Meanwhile, Hawaii-Hilo (12-1) debuted at No. 25 in the poll.

Silverswords win: Zack Whiting scored 19 points to lead Chaminade past Montana State-Billings 90-58 at McCabe Gym last night.
