Venus holds costume party

Having a hard time recovering from the holiday weekend? Head over to Venus tomorrow night for a special "Emergency Room" costume party with Island Fire Productions and Twizted Productions.

"We're calling all those 'Naughty Nurses,' 'Decked-Out Doctors' and 'Pimped-Out Patients' to come out," says Twizted's Rick Shibasaki, who will also be celebrating his birthday tomorrow at the club alongside buddy Cori Takahashi. Shibasaki is a former Las Vegas resident who helped promote parties at Ra (located inside the Luxor Casino) with the ladies of Twizted Bizcuit Productions.

DJs Keoni, Edit and Technique are also scheduled to provide aural rehabilitation during the party, which should help build the solid following that Venus already has on Wednesday nights ...

ALSO WORTH checking out tomorrow night is Gelareh Khoie's thirtyninehotel, which hosts an opening for artists Andy Howell and Aaron "The Angry Woebot" Martin (yes, he's back from the mainland -- but just for a visit), sponsored by Hurley International.

If you can't make it to Khoie's intimate New Year's celebration with DJ Harvey -- only 200 tickets are being sold -- tomorrow should be just as much fun. The opening is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m., with an afterparty featuring DJs Bumblebee, DB and Delve. Call 599-2552 for more info.

Need another reason to visit thirtyninehotel? I'm told they have a liquor license now ...

THE WAVE Waikiki continues to throw a variety of interesting events. Last week I was there for the official grand opening of the "Gravity Lounge," the Monday night party that Flash Hansen and Byron the Fur have been developing for the past couple of months.

Wave owner Jack Law was on hand to welcome guests to the VIP pre-party, including the Sheraton Waikiki's Ryan Laskey and Keith Mallini; the Ocean Club's Dan Punch, Michelle Kennedy, Alaine Akau and Keoni Miller; "Hawaii" star Kate Thomas; and promoters Russ Inouye, Matty Hazelgrove and Mark Chittom.

The fun continues tonight with local boy Anton Glamb returning home for a performance in celebration of his new album, "Do It," with some help from Braxton Olita (the guitarist for Ashlee Simpson). A former sponsored skateboarder for Kailua's 808 Skate, Glamb is now a student at Columbia University and an aspiring musician ...
