Suzuki headlines Quarterback Club

All-American baseball player Kurt Suzuki will be one of four speakers at tomorrow's Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon.

Suzuki, a Baldwin alum, drove in the winning run in the College World Series for Cal State Fullerton last year and set a record for most chances handled in a career (89) without an error.

The Big West Player of the Year was later awarded the Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation's best college baseball catcher.

Prior to the CWS, Suzuki was drafted in the second round, 68th overall, by the Oakland A's.

Also speaking will be Waianae High School head paddling coach Cory Cordeiro and Gary Dickman, restauranteur and sports radio personality. Creighton "Fuzzy" Richards, a retired college basketball official, rounds out the field of speakers.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. with the program following at noon at the Pagoda Hotel Ballroom. The public is invited.
