Hogue plans transfer to Columbia

Former Punahou School standout Becky Hogue will transfer to Columbia University in New York City to play basketball next season.

Hogue, a 2003 graduate of Punahou, saw limited playing time last season at Loyola Marymount. She left the Lions program this fall and transferred to Fullerton (Calif.) College, where she is a starting forward for the Hornets (7-4).

"I'm very happy with everything," said Hogue, who also considered Cornell, NYU and the University of Chicago. "When I was in high school, I thought I was more of an Ivy League-type of player. It's a prestigious academic institution and the campus is gorgeous."

Silverswords hammer Warriors

The Chaminade men's basketball team improved to 5-3 yesterday with a 105-63 win over the Waldorf College Warriors (7-7) of Forest City, Iowa.

Leading the attack for the Silverswords was Nick Frey with a double-double. He scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Corey Campbell added 14 points.

Davon White and Aaron Irving contributed 11 points each for Waldorf.
