Most isle banks will close
early on holiday eves

Most banks in Hawaii will be open for business on the days before Christmas and New Year's Day, but most will close early, according to a survey by the Hawaii Bankers Association.

On Christmas Eve day, early is defined as 1 p.m. for all the banks except Bank of Hawaii, which will stay open until 3 p.m.

Territorial Savings Bank will be closed for the entire Christmas Eve day.

Similar schedules will apply on New Year's Eve day, except that Territorial Savings also will be open that day, until 1 p.m.

Christmas and New Years Day both fall on Saturdays.

Some banks normally are open for business on Saturdays, but none will be for those two holidays.
