Viloria to fight
Priolo tomorrow

Flyweight Brian Viloria of Waipahu will fight Angel Priolo tomorrow on the main event of Golden Boy Promotions' Latino Boxeo de Oro show at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, his manager said yesterday.

Viloria didn't know who his opponent would be Monday, but learned yesterday that he will fight Priolo (30-1, 20 KOs). Whether the fight will be the official elimination bout for the right to take on World Boxing Council champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam is still up in the air as Gary Gittelsohn, Viloria's manager, is still awaiting word from the WBC.

Viloria, the WBC's No. 2 contender, and top-ranked Luis Maldonado were ordered to fight an elimination bout for the right to meet the champion, but Maldonado refused a spot on the card against Viloria.

Priolo, 31, hasn't fought since February, but has not lost since 1998 when undefeated Irene Pacheco knocked him out in the seventh round. Priolo is ranked ninth by the WBC.

Viloria (15-0, 9 KOs) hasn't fought since June, but has been training for a series of fights that have all been canceled.

"Brian has done his part all along," Gittelsohn said. "All we ask him to do is win, and he has done that. But he is going to have to bring his 'A' game tomorrow."
