» Goodwill Industries of Hawaii has received $7,500 from the Jessie Ann Chalmers Charitable Trust for a "wide area network" system, consisting of telephone and network connections, to improve communications among Goodwill's 26 programs and retail locations on three islands.

» Island Pacific Academy was awarded $38,000 in grants for its tuition assistance program from the James and Abigail Campbell Foundation ($25,000), the McInerny Foundation ($5,000), the Frear Eleemosynary Trust ($5,000) and the G.N. Wilcox Trust ($3,000).

Boy, 13, arrested in knife threat

Police arrested a 13-year-old Wahiawa boy Tuesday for allegedly threatening his mother with a knife several months ago.

Police said that on July 14 the suspect threatened and attacked his mother, causing minor injuries.

Police arrested the teen for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and for being a runaway.

Man, 32, allegedly assaults his brother

Police arrested a 32-year-old Kahuku man yesterday for allegedly assaulting his brother at their home.

Police said the two men got into a fight at 11 p.m. Sunday. The older brother, 35, suffered major cuts to his face requiring 30 stitches, police said.

He reported the incident to police yesterday at the Kahuku station.

Police arrested the suspect at home for suspicion of second-degree assault, a felony.

Victim leads police to car theft suspect

Police caught an alleged car thief after a Pearl City man followed his stolen car on the Waianae Coast until it was involved in an accident.

Police said the Pearl City man spotted his car on Hakimo Road and Waiolu Street in Lualualei Homesteads and followed it. He reported it to police.

Patrol officers caught up to the car after it was involved in a collision, police said.

Police arrested the 19-year-old male driver for suspicion of auto theft. He was released pending investigation.

Police arrest teen after boy is stabbed

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing a 12-year-old boy with scissors Monday.

The incident occurred downtown at about 2:10 p.m.

According to police, the victim sustained a minor puncture wound after the boys got into an argument that led to a fight.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of second-degree assault and released pending investigation.
