‘Seussical’ celebration
follows opening night
performance

A "SEUSSICAL" PARTY: The party didn't get started until almost 11 p.m., but 3-year-old actress Emily-Kim Maldonado was wide awake as her mother, Alison L.B. Maldonado, and most of the other cast and crew of Diamond Head Theatre's "Seussical" celebrated at Planet Hollywood after Friday's opening night performance. (Emily-Kim isn't in "Seussical" but got used to late nights working with her mother in Paliku Theatre's recent production of "Big River.") ... TX Tario, who stars as Jojo, enjoyed the festivities with his mother, Karli Tario .... Zenia Zambrano stopped by to celebrate with her significant other, Scott Moura, following her own opening-night performance with The Company Singers in Jim Nabors' show, "A Merry Christmas with Friends & Nabors," at the Hawaii Theatre. Zambrano will be able to catch Moura's impressive portrayal of Horton the Elephant between now and Dec. 22 (more shows have been added to the run), but he'll have to hope there's an archival video of her singing with Nabors ...

GET JAZ'ED: Anyone with a copy of "The Warped Humor of Jaz Kaner" should take note. The expatriate local boy and self-styled "surfbum" opens a five-nighter at Sharkey's Comedy Club on Wednesday. FYI, Kaner created his debut album while moonlighting at a local radio station in 1981 ...

READY FOR ANYTHING: Teen-haters fretting about high school age drivers need not worry when Michael Matar finally gets to go solo. Driver's Ed was just the start of the training he went through before his mother, Kimi Matar, was ready to let him hit the road. Michael has also completed classes in life saving, first aid and CPR ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: To Greg Sardinha, who is celebrating tomorrow ... also to Keith Mallini (Saturday), Al Harrington and Matthew Koenig (Sunday), Byron Yasui (Monday), and Marlene Sai (Tuesday) ...

CONGRATULATIONS: To Liana Green, who's on the current cover of Swimsuit Illustrated magazine, and also on the cover of a Hawaiian music anthology, "Hawaii Lani Music Collection," which is, alas, available only in Japan ... and while we're on the subject of swimsuit photos, is it possible that Swimsuit Illustrated devotes one issue a year to photos of sports events? ...
