Warriors practice schedule announced

The Hawaii football team begins practicing for the Dec. 24 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Monday.

The Warriors will practice every day at their regular campus practice field from 7 to 9 a.m., until Sunday, Dec. 19, when they go from 8 to 10 a.m. at Saint Louis School, due to UH graduation.

The team returns to practice at UH on Monday, Dec. 20, again from 7 to 9 a.m. through Wednesday. All practices are open, except the Thursday, Dec. 23, walk-through.

Hawaii's opponent, Alabama-Birmingham, hasn't set its schedule yet.

Aloha Section PGA announces awards

The Aloha Section PGA will hold its awards meeting Sunday at the Honolulu Country Club.

Some of the winners include John Lynch (Section) and Larry Stubblefield (Senior), who were players of the year, Michael Castillo as Professional of the Year, Kevin Ralbovsky as Teacher of the Year, and Mike Iyoki, who earned the Horton Smith award.

Tournament champions from all of the year's Aloha Section events will also be recognized.

Veneri to be guest speaker at Vulcans dinner

KHON sports reporter John Veneri will be the guest speaker at the third annual Hawaii-Hilo baseball dinner/auction Jan. 17 at the Hawaii Naniloa Resort's Crown room.

Tickets are $50 for the event, which will help celebrate the beginning of the Vulcans baseball season. Hawaii-Hilo opens Jan. 26 against the University of San Diego.
