Kamehameha's Horiuchi signs with Tennessee

Kamehameha Schools senior Liane Horiuchi has signed a national letter of intent to play Division I softball at Tennessee, the Southeastern Conference school announced this week.

Horiuchi has played on three Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship teams, including the Warriors' 2002 state championship team that went 18-0.

Seasiders deal Sea Warriors home loss

Jake Chrisman scored 31 points to help Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Hawaii Pacific 81-73 last night at the Blaisdell Arena.

The Seasiders (4-0), who moved up to No. 18 in the NABC coaches poll earlier in the day, don't play again until Dec. 18, while the Sea Warriors are off until Dec. 12.

Au, Nishi medal at karate world championship

Hawaii athletes won three of four United States medals last week at the World Karate Federation championships at Monterrey, Mexico.

Elisa Au won two gold medals, placing first in female open and female kumite 60kg and over. Hawaii's Shannon Nishi won her first medal, a bronze in the female kumite 53kg division.
