HTY’s holiday
show opens

People in Hawaii have been celebrating the birth of Jesus with Christmas parties and religious observances for more than 100 years, and with Christmas now less than a month away this is the perfect weekend to open the 2004 edition of Honolulu Theatre for Youth's annual production of "Christmas Talk Story" at Tenney Theatre.

The production comprises 15 new short stories by local playwrights and an assortment of popular Christmas songs. It is being co-produced by HTY and Kumu Kahua.

HTY company actors BullDog, Jason Kanda and Janice Terukina will be sharing the stage with musicians Albert "Maka" Makanani Jr., Duane Ing, Gabriel "Kapili" Littlejohn and Luke Solotario when "CTS2004" opens tomorrow with performances at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The holiday production continues with weekend performances at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 3:30 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 19 (with only one show at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4). Tickets at $16 for adults, $13 for students, and $10 for children and seniors.

Stories this year include "Frosty's Eyeballs," "Chanukah Lights" and "Mr. Abe Ain't Santa Claus."
