Karate-Do championships set for Saturday

The 45th All Hawaii State Karate-Do Championships will be held as part of the 2004 Honolulu International Karate-Do Championships on Saturday at Manoa District Park's Multi-Purpose Gym No. 2

More than 1,000 participants are expected for the International Karate Federation-hosted event, including top athletes from the U.S., Japan, Australia and Canada as well as Pan Pacific countries. Various international karate masters will represent their schools and perform special demonstrations.

Hawaii's George Kotaka and Elisa Au, the only U.S. athletes to earn gold in last year's WKF World Karate Championships, will also take part.
