WHAT'S A LITTLE RAIN?: Brent Yoshikami, left, congratulated cast members Gene De Francis, Virginia Jones and Derek Calibre on Friday at the opening night party for Hawaii Pacific University's production of "Broadway Bound." The heavy rain resulted in a few cancellations, but the show got a standing ovation from those who braved the rain.

CONGRATULATIONS, CPK!: Carole Kai helped serve the overflow crowd as Larry Flax celebrated Friday's reopening of California Pizza Kitchen in Kahala Mall by treating hundreds of invited guests to free food and soft drinks. Flax said the heavy rain was a good omen because there had been 10 days of rain when he opened CPK-Kahala back in 1987.

THEY'RE BACK!: "Sista Sherry" Clifton caught up with Eddy Gudoy at the opening night party for Kumu Kahua's production of "Half Dozen Long Stem" on Thursday. Clifton is heard during the scene changes as a local disc jockey, and Gudoy is one of her callers. The two co-starred in "Da Mayah" at Kumu Kahua in 1998.
