Japanese Chamber nets $29,750

The 27th annual City Bank Helps Oahu Golf Tournament held last week at Pearl Country Club raised a record $29,750 for this year's beneficiary, the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

All the proceeds will go toward helping the chamber's leadership program.

Seventy-three teams, comprising 219 golfers, participated in this year's tournament and brought in nearly 18 percent more than the amount raised last year.

Over the years, the the tournament has generated more than $400,000 benefiting various nonprofit groups in Hawaii.

City Bank parent CB Bancshares Inc. was merged with Central Pacific Financial Corp. on Sept. 15, but the individual banks won't merge until the first quarter of next year.

Maui offers new-business guide

WAILUKU » Maui County officials have published a revised handbook about "Starting a Business in Maui County."

The handbook includes a checklist for licenses, permits and registrations. Free copies may be obtained through visiting the county Office of Economic Development at the Kalana O Maui Building at 200 High St. in Wailuku or by accessing the Web site mcbrc.org.

Pacific Basin Communications has promoted Janice Kekoa to publication systems director. She will be responsible for managing the administrative systems for production and sales as well as continuing to oversee the traffic department and front office. She previously served as a Hawaii Sports Network marketing manager.

On the board

» St. Andrew's Priory School has appointed three new trustees to its board. Tim Johns is the Damon Estate chief operating officer. He previously served as the State Department of Land and Natural Resources chairperson. Andy Kluger is Hawaii Air Ambulance Inc. chairman of the board and CEO. Pat Foley is the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts' human resources department corporate director. She previously was in the Queen's Health Care Plan marketing department.

» The Pacific and Asian Affairs Council has appointed Kenji Sumida as board president. He previously served as East-West Center president and the University of Hawaii-Manoa administration vice chancellor. He replaces Frank Boas who will continue as an active member of the board's senior advisory council.

New hires

» A&B Properties Inc. has hired Lance Kaneala Parker as acquisitions project manager. He will be responsible for supporting the company's real estate acquisition program. He most recently served as a Grubb & Ellis Commercial Real Estate associate vice president.
