Arbor Day freebies
Celebrate Arbor Day with free activities and maybe even take home a free plant.The fun runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach and continues at the same time Friday at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. Some of the activities include a Hawaiian wood display and furniture restoration by Ka Lama O Kamani, leaf printing by local artist Lynn Cook at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, and lei making with native plants and ti leaf bracelets for children at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach.
More than 400 plants will be ready for the taking, one plant per person, including ilima, pohinahina, akulikuli, loulu palm and kalo, with native Hawaiian plant experts on hand to offer instructions for plant care.
Validated parking is available for $3 per car. From more information, call 924-6007.
