Free talks give students
tools to fund college

GEAR UP Hawaii is sponsoring free workshops on Kauai and Oahu this week on "How to Get Into and Pay for College."

The presentations will be led by Gen and Kelly Tanabe, award-winning authors of a series of how-to books on college admission and scholarships. The following workshops are open to the public and do not require reservations:

» Kailua High School cafeteria, today, 6:30 p.m.
» Farrington High School cafeteria, tomorrow, 6:30 p.m.
» Leilehua High School cafeteria, Thursday, 6:30 p.m.

The authors will help students and their families avoid scholarship scams and educate them about free college resources and financial aid.

GEAR UP helps Hawaii's youth, particularly those in low-income families, prepare for college.
