Trying out their costumes for the Outdoor Circle's Halloween fund-raiser are CEO Mary Steiner, left, volunteer Roy Miyamoto, development director Taylor Boyd and development assistant Janet Morse.

A spooktacular gala affair

The Outdoor Circle is hosting a Halloween costume party, "Trick or Trees," to be held Oct. 30 at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.

Amid the holiday day decor will be live and silent auctions, dinner, entertainment by the IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre and disco dance music by Cory & Kimo.

Outdoor Circle volunteers Irma Cunha, Steve Mechler and Laura Thompson will be honored for their longtime commitment to the organization.

Items up for bid in auction include such outdoorsy items as a sail for 12 aboard the Hokule'a, a tour for two to Nova Scotia, a Mediterranean cruise, a week-long stay on Flathead Lake in Montana and trips to the Chelsea and Philadelphia flower shows.

Tickets are $150, with premium tables (i.e., the "bat cave") available. Funds will go toward the group's Save Our Skies initiative, to fight what the Outdoor Circle sees as a modern-day goblin, aerial advertising.

Call 593-0300 or e-mail mikey@outdoorcircle.org.
