Soccer tournament tickets on sale

Tickets for the 2004 Western Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament are on sale. The tournament runs November 4-6 at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Stadium.

Tickets are available at all University of Hawaii outlets including the Stan Sheriff Center box office, UH Campus Center, Windward Community College and Rainbowtique Ward Centre. Tickets may also be purchased online at etickethawaii.com or by calling 944-2697.

The prices for all sessions are $20 for adults, $10 for UH students with a school ID and $8 for youngsters age 5-18.

The single-session prices are $8 for adults, $4 for UH students with a school ID and $3 for youngsters age 5-18.

Liu unchallenged at tennis championships

Brigham Young-Hawaii's Jing Jing Liu had no problem in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Small College Championships at Fort Myers, Fla., yesterday.

Liu, the top seed, swept Daria Segenchuk of East Central (Okla.) 6-0, 6-0 to reach today's semifinals against Yuliya Kuznets of Lewis.

Liu also teamed with Adrienne Hegedus to win a pair of matches and reach today's doubles championship against second seeds Luisa Cowper and Laura Petty of Armstrong Atlantic State.

BYUH sophomore Dorian Porada was pushed to the men's consolation bracket after losing 6-3, 7-5 to Tomas Hladil of Central Oklahoma.

Araujo honored by PacWest

Chaminade defensive specialist Kalae Araujo was named the Pacific West Conference's player of the week for helping the Silverswords to a sweep of then-No. 8 Hawaii Pacific last week.

Araujo, of Mililani, averaged 6.7 digs per game for the week and had 20 against HPU. Chaminade also beat Hawaii-Hilo twice in the span.

Women race for a cure

Amateur and professional female drag racers will compete for $1,000 at Hawaii Raceway Park tomorrow and will be competing for $1,000 in a powder puff demolition derby next door at Hawaii Motor Speedway.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Both events will be part of the regular program.
