Truck driver pleads
not guilty in teen’s
kidnapping-assault

A Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu truck driver pleaded not guilty in Circuit Court yesterday to charges he held, sexually assaulted and robbed a 17-year-old girl earlier this month.

Anton Myklebust, 26, entered his plea yesterday via video from the Oahu Community Correctional Center, where he is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

He was indicted Oct. 7 on 15 counts, including first- and third-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and methamphetamine trafficking.

The 17-year-old girl was walking on Nuuanu Avenue headed to work just before 8 a.m. Oct. 2 when Myklebust, driving a Big Brothers Big Sisters truck, asked her for directions, according to police. She apparently stepped inside the truck, and he began driving around with her, saying he was looking for a bathroom, police said.

During the next few hours, he allegedly sexually assaulted her, withdrew money from her account using her bank card, and injected her and himself with an unknown substance later identified as methamphetamine, according to police.

She later identified her attacker in a photo lineup, and Myklebust was arrested three days later in Waikiki.
