Food spree at Outlet

Grocery Outlet is offering a chance to win a double shopping spree -- one for yourself and one for your favorite charity. Winners will have two minutes to run through the store, grabbing anything they like.

Deadline to enter is tomorrow, so head to the store today. It's at 1199 Dillingham Blvd.

Ice cream fund-raiser

Cold Stone Creamery celebrates the opening of its newest store with a fund-raiser for McKinley High School.

On Wednesday, the new store in the Shops at Keeaumoku, 700 Keeaumoku St., will donate 50 percent of its sales to the school. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sit in and win

How long can you sit on a couch without dropping the remote control? If you are a championship sitter, you could be a contender for the $8,000 in prizes offered in the 2nd Annual Couch Potato Challenge.

The three-day competition is part of the Food and New Products Show, an exhibition of consumerism that runs Thursday through Sunday at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

Couch potato competitors will be monitored day and night, allowed to eat, take care of basic sanitation and campaign for votes. In the case of a tie, the winner will be picked by the public.

At stake is the top prize of a DVD home theater system, a massage chair and -- appropriately, a new couch.

The show itself will feature such products as 2005 automobiles, jacuzzis, electronics, crafts, jewelry and fashion items. Samples and sales of foods, from snacks to wine and chocolates, will be offered.

Entertainment will include the Little Miss and Mr. 2004 Pageant, a fashion show, cooking demonstrations, music and more. On Thursday there will be an open casting call for the TV series "Hawaii."

Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5, with $1 discount for seniors, military and children.

Seeking Dr. Seuss

Diamond Head Theatre is holding auditions for "Seussical" at 7 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Diamond Head Theatre Rehearsal Hall at 520 Makapuu Ave.

"Seussical" brings favorite Dr. Seuss characters to life, in tales woven together by Jojo, a young child and "thinker of strange and wonderful things!"

Performers should be prepared to sing an uptempo song or ballad that shows off their range and personality. Songs from contemporary musical theater are appropriate. No a capella, transpositions or karaoke tapes. Bring dance clothes and shoes. Scripts are available at the DHT box office for on-site reading.

"Seussical" will run Dec. 3 to 19. Call DHT at 733-0277, ext. 309, or visit its Web site, www.diamondheadtheatre.com.
