Former Maui resident Timmy Hunt last month sent a shaka sign to everyone in Hawaii from outside his Aloha Island Grille in Santa Cruz, Calif., which he opened in March with business partner Numa Trepanier. Aloha Island Grille, at 1700 Portola Drive, serves Hawaiian-style plate lunches, along with appetizers such as ahi poke, Spam musubi, cone sushi and poi. "It's an awesome feeling to be able to share da aloha spirit with folks," Hunt told Star-Bulletin staffer Mark Coleman. "It's really nice to talk story with them all, too. I love my job!"
