Mayoral candidates
to debate

Honolulu mayoral candidates Duke Bainum and Mufi Hannemann have agreed to a live debate, airing at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 on KITV 4.

"We are pleased that we could facilitate a debate that will assist Honolulu's people in deciding who they want to lead the city for the next four years", said Mike Rosenberg, president and general manager of KITV 4.

"The debate format, still to be finalized, will include questions from a panel consisting of reporters from KITV 4 News and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, as well as email questions from concerned citizens," said Tod Pritchard, KITV 4 news director.

"KITV provides a tremendous public service to Honolulu voters by hosting this mayoral debate," Bainum stated. "I believe that the people deserve an honest comparison of our experience and qualifications to be the next Mayor, and I look forward to facing my opponent."

Hannemann added, "I am grateful to KITV for agreeing to sponsor this debate between the candidates for Mayor of Honolulu. I welcome debates and believe that at the heart of good government is an informed electorate. One of the best ways for voters to learn about candidates and their abilities is through an honest exchange of ideas and solutions."
