Lipsher has 5 shutouts
at Duke

ALLISON Lipsher blanked No. 19 Wake Forest 2-0 on Wednesday and stopped No. 14 Florida State by the same score Friday night. They were the freshman goalkeeper's fourth and fifth solo shutouts of the season for No. 16 Duke (9-2).

The Punahou graduate has shared in two other shutouts and sports a 1.06 goals-against average. Lipsher has allowed nine goals, four against Tennessee in the first match of the season and five vs. Florida in the fourth match.

The Blue Devils have not allowed a goal in five matches since winning the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Classic with shutout wins over Hawaii and Long Beach State.

Andrew Brown (Mililani) was 5-1 in six starts in the goal for the No. 4 Creighton Bluejays heading into Friday's match against No. 17 Southern Methodist at Omaha, Neb. The senior had a 1.27 goals-against average and had shared one shutout with backup Matt Allen.

However, Brown wasn't able to stop a shot by Adrian Chevannes at 14:17 and the Mustangs handed the Bluejays their first shutout of the season 1-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Kara Ishikawa (Iolani) leads the Cornell Big Red (4-2-2) women's soccer team with three goals, two of them opportunistic game-winners.

The first came against Lafayette when the 5-foot-1 midfielder controlled a bad clearing pass and lofted an 18-yard shot over the goalkeeper's head at 96:13 for a 1-0 victory Sept. 11.

Eight days later, Ishikawa pounded a rebound into the net for the first goal in a shutout victory over Robert Morris.

Bethany Nishimoto, a senior striker from Hanalani, leads the Dordt (Sioux Center, Iowa) Lady Defenders (7-2-1) in points with 17, on six goals and a team-leading five assists. She scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway against Northwestern College on Wednesday.

Chandi Bickford, a sophomore from Kealakehe, is the assist leader for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (6-4-1) with six. She picked up her sixth in a 4-1 win over Long Beach State on Friday. The striker and sometimes defender also has two goals.

Soo Lee, a redshirt freshman goalkeeper from Seabury Hall, is credited with both Southern Oregon (2-6-1) wins this year. She has started four matches for the Raiders and has a 1.86 goals-against average.

Rachel Clevenger, a freshman striker from Hilo, has scored once and recorded two assists for the 3-3-2 Willamette Bearcats. Sophomore goalkeeper Kristin Muramoto (Iolani) has made one start without a decision.

Daniel Park, who transferred from Pacific (Ore.) this year, has started five of the six matches he played in for the Willamette men's team. The Pearl City graduate has taken one shot, put it on goal, but it was saved.

Aimee Watanabe, a freshman midfielder from Castle, and Amber Thronas, a freshman striker from Kauai, have started all 10 matches for the Western Oregon Wolves (2-8-0).

Neither one has scored a goal yet.

Jennifer Lau has scored four goals for Wellesley College (4-5-0). The freshman striker from Punahou has done that on 12 shots, nine of which have been on goal.
