Walton, Kusutani win 25K run

Chad Walton and Suyuri Kusutani were the top finishers at the Michelob Ultra-Schofield 25-km run yesterday at Schofield Barracks.

Walton was timed in 1 hour, 33 minutes, 49 seconds, while Kusutani won the women's division with a time of 1:38:45.

Rainbow Wahine sailors qualify for nationals

UH sailors Tinja Anderson and Shandy Buckley qualified for the Single-Handed Nationals after finishing first and second at the Pacific Coast Championships in Long Beach, Calif., yesterday.

Anderson won with 72 points, while Buckley had 90. The two will compete at the national regatta on Oct. 23-24 in Minnesota.

Vulcans down Seasiders in 5

Hawaii-Hilo defeated Brigham Young-Hawaii 14-30, 30-20, 24-30, 30-20, 15-9 in a PacWest volleyball game Saturday night at UHH Gym.

Shara Parker had 15 kills and Christina Cooley had 12 to lead the Vulcans (1-2, 4-8). Noelle Filimoeatu put down 17 kills and Yu Chuan Weng added 13 for the Seasiders (0-3, 6-5).
