The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.



Nut grower rises


ML Macadamia Orchards LP, which offers the highest dividend yield of any company in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index, posted the best performance among local companies this week with a gain of 3.1 percent. The Big Island grower, whose stock yields 5 percent, closed yesterday at $3.97.

Barnwell Industries Inc. had the second-best performance with a 1.1 percent increase to $45.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of Hawaiian Airlines, suffered the worst drop as it fell 9.2 percent to $6.99. It was the first time Hawaiian ended below $7 since Aug. 30.
