He acts as a punk
surfer; she pretends
to beat him up

WORKING OVERTIME: September has been a big month for Reb Beau Allen with work at Honolulu Theatre for Youth and in Pure Theatre's staging of "Woyzeck," and a big guest spot on an episode of "Hawaii." Allen says he had a great time on "Hawaii" playing a "punk surfer" named Brian Haili and even got to throw some blows in a scene with Aya Sumika. The outcome of the fight? "She wins" ...

CONGRATULATIONS: To D.K. and Lori Kodama on the opening of Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar and Steak House in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. (The seafood side is open, the steak house opens on Saturday.) Dungeness Crab Ramen, Monster Shrimp Scampi, Beef Tenderloin Scallopini, and Lappert's Ice Cream sundaes, were big hits at the pre-opening party on Monday ...

INTERESTING PEOPLE: Andy Bumatai was once billed as "Hawaii's First Stand-up Comic," so let's call Angeline Han, 12, "Hawaii's youngest stand-up comic." She's honing her material doing a Thursday "open mic" spot at Sharkey's Comedy Club ... Female ukulele virtuosos are rare these days, but Taimane Gardner, 15, proved that she's one of them when she played at the "Creme de la Creme" Bishop Museum fund-raiser at the Sheraton Waikiki on Sunday ... Veteran actor Ely Wyatt Na Ka Ulu 'Aina Rapoza is taking a break from theater while completing the classes he needs for a degree in secondary education. Rapoza, who did Po'okela Award-worthy work in Kennedy Theatre's spring 2004 production of "Betty's Summer Vacation," has even cut his hair to look the part of a serious teacher ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: To Kawai Cockett, who is celebrating tomorrow ... also to Tommy D (Sunday), "Uncle Sam" Kapu, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Lanai and Christian Yrizzary (Monday), Charlie Longhi and Kekuhi Kanahele (Tuesday), and concert caterer Steve Ozark (Wednesday) ...

RON ROCKS: Weekends are prime time for "Oldies 107.9" listeners because that's when "Uncle Tom" Moffatt ignores the usual generic playlist, and syndicated deejays Dick Bartley, Machine Gun Kelly and Little Walter also play many seldom-heard songs. Listeners of a certain age got a special treat Sunday when The Real Ron O'Neal capped his show with the full 17-minute version of Iron Butterfly's heavy-metal epic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" ...
