Jude Law: Stars in the retro sci-fi movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

>> "Mr. 3000": Comic and TV sitcom star Bernie Mac lands his first lead role, as an egotistical baseball icon who comes out of retirement to earn back three newly disqualified hits that would guarantee his spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The experience renews his love for the sport as he finds himself imparting some of his knowledge to a young rookie. Angela Bassett, Chris Noth and Evan Jones co-star. (PG-13)

>> "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow": Combine the acting skills of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Angelina Jolie, put them in front of a green screen that will be filled with state-of-the-art digital animation, and you've got a retro sci-fi adventure flick that feels like a combination of Commando Cody serials and Max Fleischer "Superman" cartoons. Law plays the titular hero, a rakish adventurer who teams with his reporter ex-girlfriend, Polly Perkins (Paltrow) to rescue his trusty sidekick Dex (Giovanni Ribisi) while fighting mystery villain Dr. Totenkopf, who is bent on destroying the world. Jolie plays the eye patch-wearing commander of an all-female amphibious squadron that assists the duo. (PG)

>> "Wimbledon": Paul Bettany makes the move from supporting-actor status to romantic lead in this movie about a struggling British pro tennis player, Peter Colt, who manages to score a wild-card seeding in the prestigious English tournament. There, he meets and falls in love with American tennis star Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst) and learns he actually stands a chance of winning the men's singles title. (PG-13)
