Celebs to start walk

Mixed martial arts world champion Robert Ferguson, three-time Olympian Matt Biondi, and KGMB9 News sports anchor Liz Chun will kick off the LifeFest Kapalua Celebrity Power Walk on Sept. 25 at Kapalua Resort.

The scenic 5K walk through the resort is sponsored by Meadow Gold Dairies and benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Hawaii Division.

Ferguson is being inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame this month. The co-author of "Fat That Doesn't Come Back," Ferguson is also a weight-loss coach and TV personality, who operates Wellness Weight-Loss in Southern California with his wife and co-author Krista Clarke.

Recently inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame, Biondi earned 11 medals in swimming -- eight gold, two silver and one bronze -- in the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympics.

Chun, an Emmy award-winning TV journalist, is KGMB 9's sports director, and the first and only female sports anchor in Hawaii. In addition to covering sports, she paddles competitively and runs in marathons.

The Celebrity Power Walk will start and end at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, Beach House Lawn. Participation is $25 in advance, $30 on day of event, $10 for keiki 12 and under. Each participant will receive a 2004 LifeFest Kapalua T-shirt. To register, visit www.lifefestkapalua.com/powerwalk.htm or call 808-669-2440.
