Jones headlines QB Club lineup

Hawaii football coach June Jones is the featured speaker at tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

UH defensive coordinator George Lumpkin, sportscaster Dave Vinton and volleyball great Jon Stanley are among the other speakers.

The luncheon meeting is at the Pagoda Ballroom and open to the public. Lunch begins at 11:30 and the first speaker goes on at noon.

Smith leads BYUH runners to victory

Chelsea Smith finished first in 17 minutes, 46 seconds to lead the Brigham Young-Hawaii cross country team to the championship of the UH-Hilo Invitational yesterday at the Vulcan campus.

BYUH was first with 27 points, Hawaii-Manoa (which rested some of its top runners) second with 62, UH-Hilo third with 66 and Chaminade fourth with 83.

Duke wins Soccer Classic

Duke won the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Soccer Classic last night with a 3-0 victory over Long Beach State at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Stadium.

Casey McCluskey scored twice in the first half and Carolyn Riggs had a second-half goal.

The Classic concludes tomorrow at 5 p.m. when Hawaii plays Long Beach State.
