Silverswords swamped by Cal Baptist

The Chaminade water polo team had a rough opening to its season yesterday, losing 20-7 to Cal Baptist at Laie.

Goran Milic scored six times for Cal Baptist, which led 11-5 at the half before wearing down the Silverswords. Shawn Phillips and Milos Matijebac each scored a pair of goals for Chaminade.

Cal Baptist improved to 2-0.

Seasiders lose first game: Top-ranked Stanford defeated No. 14 BYU-Hawaii 17-7 last night in Laie.

The Cardinal led 6-2 after the first period and cruised the rest of the way. Thomas Hopkins scored eight goals and Peter Varellas added five for Stanford.

Vanja Kalabic and Ken Van Haaster each scored twice to lead the Seasiders (2-1). BYUH hosts Cal Baptist today at 5 p.m.
