Hermes party in Waikiki
draws a well-dressed crowd


A fashionable crowd, including many of Honolulu's "beautiful people" attended the opening of the luxurious Hermes store Thursday evening at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Hermes' Christian Blanckaert  of Paris, Robert Chavez of New York and store managing director Laura Brodkin greeted guests, who sipped champagne and snacked on Current Affairs' pupu. Several isle retail execs attended, including Dior's Cammy Coble with hubby Bill Mahares, Fendi's Patrick Gey, Neiman's Al Tomonari and Honu Group's Mona Abadir and Tom Applegate. Other guests included Halekulani G.M. Fred Honda, Evan and Kit Dobelle, Fred and Myrtle Lee, Jean Ariyoshi, Joan Bickson and John Alves, wearing a Hermes tie ... Part II of the party was held on the Iolani Palace grounds. Guests were treated to the vocals of Nina Kealiiwahamana, danced to singer Jimmy Borges and the Del Courtney Orchestra and dined on Chef Mavro's food. Dean Christopher was the event coordinator ...

Doherty dines at Morton's with her ex

Shannen Doherty took a break from North Shore filming to dine at Morton's Tuesday with ex-husband Rick Solomon ... Lexi Placourakis, a sophomore at Maui's Seabury Hall, is the daughter of restaurateur Aaron Placourakis. She arrived at Nick's Fishmarket Maui last Saturday for what she thought would be a quiet birthday dinner with dad but found 30 classmates and friends there to help her celebrate "sweet 16" ... Jay Kaneshiro has been named a manager at Ruth's Chris ...

Diamond Head Theatre opens its 90th anniversary season with "Anything Goes" Sept. 24 through Oct. 10. Besides the title song, other Cole Porter hits in the show include "It's De-Lovely," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "Easy to Love" and more. Dependable John Rampage is director-choreographer. Alethea Train is musical director. Stefanie Smart, Randl Ask and Andrew Sakaguchi star in the show ...

Tuesday's meeting for Ballet Hawaii's Black & White Ball officials turned into a birthday party for ball co-chair Ana Meng and associate director Judy Muncaster. Among those singing "Happy Birthday" to the pair were event chair Vivien Stackpole, fashion designer Anne Namba, Lavina Wong of Macy's, Suzanne Sunada of Merck and others working on the Sept. 25 fund-raiser ...
