Kalihi-Foster Village

Romeo Munoz Cachola

Nonpartisan

Age: 66 Job: Full-time City Council member Past: Finance, Realtor associate, state representative

What qualifies you to be a City Council member?

An advocate for smart, fiscally responsible government, I look at ways to save taxpayer money. As a Representative, I introduced a bill that saved $230 million in Hawaii Hurricane Relief Fund premiums ...

What is the most pressing issue in your district and what would you do about it?

Public health and safety: Support community policing and partnerships with law enforcement agencies. Transportation and traffic: Provide funds for roadway improvements and other traffic mitigation measures.

Do you support rail transit as a solution to Oahu's traffic congestion?

Yes. As a state representative, I supported a bill to help counties pay for fixed rail. I supported a people mover ... from Waikiki to Aloha Tower that would complement ferry and bus systems between Leeward Oahu and downtown.
