Lia and Anson Wu stopped with daughter Anya, 21 months, at Matsumoto Shave Ice in Haleiwa yesterday to cool off in the hot weather. The San Francisco Bay area residents were in town on a day when temperatures in Honolulu and Hilo tied record highs yesterday afternoon. At 2 p.m. it was 92 degrees at Honolulu Airport and 89 degrees at Hilo Airport, the National Weather Service said. Weather service public forecaster Ray Tanabe said the high temperatures were largely caused by a decline in tradewinds Monday. Tradewinds were expected to return to the islands today and bring temperatures down by a few degrees.
