Cut-to-fit T-shirts
for today’s fashionistas


WHATTA GREAT JOB!: L.A.-based fashion designer Adam Saaks creates one-of-a-kind T-shirts by carefully cutting and tying them to fit his female clients while they're wearing them. Saaks capped three nights of live demos at the Wave Waikiki last weekend with a special in-store session at Pink C on Monday. Saaks in action cutting and tying a custom T-shirt for Marina Antonopoulu at Pink C was a fascinating fusion of high fashion and performance art. Saaks said it's been "three years and one week" since a young woman brought him to his calling by asking him to custom cut her T-shirt. Since then he's done tees or dresses for celebs including Madonna, Pink, Eve, Alicia Keys and Britney Spears, and fulfilled a long-time dream over the weekend by doing a T-shirt on a woman standing in the ocean by the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Saaks turned down an offer of $1,000 for a hot-pink dress he cut for Spears, saying it'll stay in his archives ...

INTERESTING PEOPLE: Sam the Man of 102.7 "Da Bomb," celebrated his 27th birthday this summer and says he doesn't mind if people know it. "I have no problem growing old gracefully," he said. "When I was 20 they thought I was 35" ... Stuart Soosman, high-profile vending machine operator in Waikiki in the '70s, is back on the scene these days as a Teamster driver on the set of "Lost." He's also into property management ... Paliku Theater manager Tom Holowach came up short on prospective actors at auditions for "Big River" and solved the problem by volunteering to fill one of the empty spots. Holowach, seen in Army Community Theatre's spring production of "Camelot," will continue his stage career playing the Duke opposite John Bryan (Jim), Sean Jones (Huck) and Jakara Mato (Mary Jane Wilkes). "Big River" opens on Oct. 8 ... Derrick Malama, playing modern Hawaiian music Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. on KPIO-FM 89.3, likes to showcase new releases and songs the big stations aren't playing ...
