Kahuku tops
football poll

Defending Division I state football champion Kahuku is the season's first No. 1.

Fresh off a romp over Kaimuki, the Red Raiders earned the top spot in the Star-Bulletin media poll.

Saint Louis checked in at No. 2, even though the Crusaders were beaten soundly by Kahuku two weeks ago. The state D-I runner-up a year ago, Saint Louis got back on the winning trail by rolling over Kapolei last weekend.

Kamehameha barely edged out Mililani for the No. 3 spot.

The ILH-contending Warriors rolled over Waianae last weekend, while the Trojans figured out a way to stop Punahou's intricate passing offense.

The Buffanblu, despite the loss, took the No. 8 spot.

Two more ILH teams cracked into the top 10 -- No. 7 Iolani and No. 9 Pac-Five, while two MIL teams also made it in -- No. 5 Baldwin and No. 10 Lahainaluna.
