Hawaii Beat

Olympian Clay to make local apperance

Decathlon silver-medal winner Bryan Clay will appear at Windward Community College on Saturday at 10 a.m. to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Clay, a graduate of Castle High, became the first athlete from Hawaii to win an Olympic medal in track and field when he placed second in the decathlon last week in Athens, Greece. His 8,820 points weren't enough to beat Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic for gold, but it represents the third-highest decathlon point total in U.S. history.

After a brief visit here, on Sunday evening Clay will return to Azusa, Calif., where he lives and trains.
