UH coaches move over to Mid-Pacific program

A pair of former Hawaii coach Vince Goo's assistant coaches have landed jobs with a local high school program.

Byron Cheng, who served two seasons under Goo in Manoa, was named to lead Mid-Pacific's girls basketball program yesterday. He will be bringing former Hawaii assistant coach Da Houl and veteran local coach Ben Flores to assist him.

Cheng's prep experience includes coaching varsity basketball at Punahou, Sacred Hearts and Moanalua. Flores coached the Owls over the summer and has 23 years of experience in high school basketball locally. Houl had been an assistant under Goo since 1992 and worked her way up to associated head coach before being dismissed this year.
